iWatch Worth $17.5 Billion in First Year Sales For Apple, Morgan Stanley Says

iWatch Worth $17.5 Billion in First Year Sales For Apple, Morgan Stanley Says

Apple’s iWatch isn’t even official yet, but Wall Street is already predicting what sales of such a device could mean for Apple’s balance sheet if it does launch sometime soon. A new analyst note from Morgan Stanley’s Katy Huberty suggests that Apple stands to earn $17.5 billion in iWatch sales from the first year it’s on the market. That’s incredibly bullish. To put it in perspective, the iPad earned Apple $12 billion the first year it was on the market, Apple Insider said. Huberty thinks that existing iOS users will flock to the device, however.

Of course, the selling price of such a product is key in these metrics, and Huberty suggests that Apple will sell the iWatch for about $299 on average (different models could mean different price points). That may be too expensive for some new entrants to the smartphone space, and it’s on a par with what Samsung charges for the Galaxy Gear. There are cheaper options Apple will fight against. The Pebble will set you back $149 on the low end, while the new Pebble Steel costs $249.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said his company will enter new markets this year. A new connected Apple TV with a focus on apps and gaming may be one route, while the iWatch could be another. Huberty doesn’t suggest what kind of margins Apple will earn on the iWatch  - rumors of wireless charging, flexible displays and even the use of sapphire could boost the cost of building the new wearable.

Samsung Galaxy S5 to Launch on 24th Feb

Samsung Galaxy S5 to Launch on 24th Feb

It's here. Finally. The date the world eagerly awaits is finally here. Samsung is all set for the launch of the next Galaxy S sflagship phone and event invites have already begun rolling out. Samsung Galaxy S5, was slated to release at MWC 2014 and looks like Samsung is staying true to rumours.

The invite for Samsung Unpacked gives more than a hint at the launch of the S5 with the number 5 making itself stand-out in the invite. That the launch is regarding Samsung Galaxy S5 is clear enough. While last year Samsung skipped MWC and chose to instead launch Samsung Galaxy S4 at Times Square in March.  This year, looks like Samsung is all set to grab the limelight at MWC and steal the show.

Samsung Galaxy S5 will launch on 24th February and there's definitely more than enough excitement in the air. Also, the accompanying words, Episode 1 on the launch invite hint at multiple launches in the coming days. We all remember the grand way in which Samsung launched the S4 across continents. We wonder what the company will not do to match the excitement.

Samsung Galaxy S5 is rumoured to come with a 2K display and a completely re-designed look. Metal hints have been dropped earlier though none of the image links verify the fact. Additionally, the phone is also said to come with not just an Iris tracker but a head-movement tracker. Also, with news of Samsung having developed the first ever 4GB RAM for smartphones, perhaps Samsung Galaxy S5 will be a mini-computer in our hands. However, previous year's trends indicate that Samsung might choose to launch the Note 4 with the 4 GB RAM instead of the S5 or the F line. The processor might be an octa-core or 64 bit processor though all leaks point towards the latter.

With just a couple of weeks to go, we are sure the wait is getting excruciating. And the speed at which rumour mills churn, we hope to see the near-complete specifications soon enough. Feb 24th, you're just too far!
